However, we’re not the type to give up easily and after much scouring, we found this – Hotel St. James. This two star hotel is the best budget hotel near Times Square – not that you’d realise!

It’s still a lovely place to be, and the library is a lovely place to relax with a good book and a drink, or the company of your travel companion. All rooms are air conditioned and offer a private bathroom equipped with a bath. When you’ve finished in the bathroom, climb into your comfy bed and stick a film on the cable TV!

We tried really hard when coming up with the best budget hotel near Times Square. So hard in fact, that we found a second option – the Carvi Hotel New York. It’s a little further away than our other option, but that’s not a problem as you can easily get a subway to Times Square itself. Walking might take you a while – but only because you’ll be stopping to see cool monuments and exciting shops!

In your room, make use of the free Wi-Fi and iPod docking station to keep yourself entertained. There’s also a safe where you can keep any valuables or travel documents, secure in the knowledge that they’ll be there when you come back from sightseeing!
